AboutKoreanfood:떡국 Ddeok Soup(=Ddeok guk)


Ddoek soup is usually eaten in a new year in Korea, everyone eat ddeok soup in a new year, it means the old year has gone so we should be clean and to get 1 year older from religious meaning. At the old days, we put pheasant meat, but thesedays it's very uncommon so people use beef or chicken. For beef we cut it in slice and fry ion frypen with sauce, or just cut in it slice and boil it with green onion. We also put egg in ddeok soup, we seperate the white part and the yellow part. ddeok is also cut in slice and boil tpgether with other ingredients. After cooking it all we put fried beef, kim(dried seaweed), and pie nut on to the ddeok soup.
ddeok is ricecake.
guk means soup in Korea.
